Strange iOS Bug Appears in Text Messages

 In Tech Bytes

iOS versions 11.0.3 and 11.1 are affected by a bug that replaces the letter “I” with “A[?]” or sometimes other characters when texting. The odd character pairing appears as the primary entry in the iOS recommended predictive auto-correct text feature, which is turned on by default in the iOS Messages app.

In most cases, the letter “I” gets replaced with “A[?]”. Unless users noticed the error, they end up sending malformed messages.

But, there is a fix:

1.    Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement
2.    Tap +
3.    For Phrase, type an upper-case “I”. For Shortcut, type a lower-case “i”
